  7. The PS/8 and PS/16 are MicroChannel versions of the AT8+ and AT16+ that
  8. transform the IBM PS/2 Models 50, 60, 70, and 80 into intelligent, multi-user
  9. systems running XENIX, UNIX, or AIX. The boards have been designed to take
  10. advantage of the features of the Micro Channel Architecture while extending the
  11. connectivity of the IBM PS/2 to up to 64 users with four boards. This allows
  12. the users to efficiently share data, applications, and peripherals
  13.  
  14. The PS/8 and PS/16 use a dedicated 80186 processor to manage up to sixteen
  15. serial ports with a maximum of 3 to 5 percent response time degradation. A
  16. dual-ported shared memory interface controls data transfers to and from the
  17. central processor. The PS/8 and PS/16 support downloadable code which provides
  18. greater flexibility in the operating systems and devices supported.
